Burial Assistance
Burial assistance provides financial assistance to help with funeral costs up to $2,500.00 of which $400 can be used for potlatch supplies. The deceased must be a member of Skagway Village or eligible for membership in a federally recognized Tribe and has resided in the Skagway Village service area for the past 30 days (excluding absence for medical treatments) or has not been absent from their permanent residence in the past 60 days.
If the deceased received Adult temporary assistance, adult public assistance, or nursing home Medicaid you will need to apply through the State of Alaska Division of Public Assistance Burial Assistance Program.
